The awakening

Come spring in Sydney, these beautiful native orchids awaken and blossom gloriously in the sun. The heavy flower stems worship the ground ever so gently, acknowledging the nourishment of the earth and returning its gratitude with the vibrancy and light of the golden flowers. An intimate connection, that is shared by one and all. The timeless orchid of the land.

Species – Dendrobium speciosum, also known as Sydney’s Rock Orchid.

The Awakening has found a beautiful home at the Gardens of Mahratta, Sydney, Australia.

  1. Dear Sharon
    Your work is simply stunning!!
    You know I love it!
I am wondering about details, size and price of unframed picture you have posted today with some pink Euc. blossom?
Let me know if ever you come to Perth!!!?
    Kindest regards,

    1. Dear Janie,
Thank you so much for appreciating my work.
Majority of my pieces are on paper and vellum. The Eucalyptus blossoms that I’ve posted on the 26 June is my first piece on drafting film, A1 size [594 x 841mm]. Am still working on it (smile). Just to give you an idea on pricing, the originals on A2 [420 x 594mm] ranges between $800-$1,200 unframed.
I’d LOVE to visit Perth again, so many beautiful Australian natives and inspirations to draw from.
      Sharon x
